Hi everyone, I am new on this forum and new to Cimzia too. Had my first two injections this week and it freaked me out, in spite of having a nursing background :)

The nures from Healthcare said I wouldn't feel any side effects but I feel very tired. Does anyone else experience that? Also, they told me I could use a F*** cooling back to transport my drugs but when I contacted the company they said it only keeps the drugs at room temperature so not suitable for Cimzia.

Hello Sally - can't help on Cimzia but I had my first injection of Enbrel last week and was sooo tired after it and for much of the next day. I know I shouldn't but I went on an ask a patient site and so many people said they experience fatigue for the next day after the injection. I'm glad I didn't know this first as I would think I had convinced myself I was tired. I hadn't read about people's reactions prior to my ist injection, but I had such overwhelming fatigue on Friday that I am going to inject on Friday evening this week and give myself chance to sleep it off on Saturday.

Glad you have joined us Sally. Look forward to getting to know you Why not put a post in the new to the forum section to tell us about yourself? I'm Ailsa, been diagnosed almost a year and live in Warrington. I'm 51 and teach English in High School but am currently signed off till after half term to get used to Enbrel and over this current flare.

Good luck with your next injection. Let us know how you get on xx Ailsa

Thanks for your responses Rose and Ailsa.
Glad it's not just me then with the fatigue I think I might take mine at night too.
I live in London, aged 54 and was diagnosed a year or so ago.

Hi Sally

I have introduced myself on your new members thread and then came across this one!

It is common to feel very tired after your injection. The Cimzia is cutting back your overactive immune system and it's a natural response to this that the body becomes fatigued. Once you have got used to the drug these effects should disappear. Get plenty of rest afterwards and try to stay well hydrated at all times.

Why do you need to transport your drugs? Usually when going abroad I use a small cool bag and ice packs making sure that I don't actually freeze the drugs in the process. Its a case of working out how long you will be travelling and how long the packs will last. If travelling by plane drugs should not be put in the hold as they certainly will freeze; they need to be carried with you and kept at fridge temperature. You will also need a letter from the pharmacy explaining why you are carrying in needles.

Good luck with the Cimzia,

Lyn x

Hi Lyn, Thanks for the info. The reason I was asking about the Frio cooling bag as it is what the nurse from healthcare advised, wrongly I now discover. I spoke to the pharmacist and they said exactly what you have said and they are revising what they tell patients. I travel a lot so important I get it right!
thanks again.
Sally
